MLB news 4/22/18

Well, here's is today's iteration of MLB news. Don't worry, there are no more high school blowouts.
1. During the Chicago Cubs series finale against the Colorado Rockies today at Coors Field, Cubs 3rd Baseman Kris Bryant was hit in the head by a pitch. The pitch was a 96 mph fastball by Rockies pitcher German Marquez, and did not appear to be intentional. Cubs manager Joe Maddon and the team trainer helped Bryant off the field, who appeared to be woozy. Shortly after, the Cubs announced Bryant had suffered a laceration above his eye from his sunglasses, and was showing no signs of a concussion, but will continue to be evaluated. Bryant has now been hit 7 times this season, leading the majors.
2. Shohei Ohtani is no longer bothered by a blister that limited him to two innings pitched in his last start. The Angels announced today that Ohtani will make his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Astros.
3. St.Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has landed on the 10-day DL with an elbow inflammation. To fill the roster spot, the Cardinals have called up John Brebbia from Triple-A Memphis.
4. After White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage while pitching against the Astros, Tampa Bay decided to hang a jersey of Farquhar in their dugout to honor Farquhar, who is still recovering.
5. Manny Machado just keeps hitting bombs. The Orioles shortstop has continued his hot streak by hitting homers off Indians ace Corey Kluber in consecutive at bats. He is now tied for the league lead in homers.
