Cardinals score 8 runs in 7th to take down Angels

Ivan Herrera drove in two runs, Nolan Arenado homered, and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Angels with a 10-5 victory Monday night in Anaheim. The Cardinals got off on the right foot to open this series, though it didn't appear that way at first. Shut out through 6 innings, it appeared as if another loss was in order for the team. All it took was a 8 run showing in the 7th inning to wind up in the win column, turning the game on its head. Arenado said of the Cardinals big inning that "It was great to see us rally and come back and have a big inning. It seems like that’s the way we’re scoring runs. It couldn’t have come at a better time. We didn’t give in as the game went on, so that was really good." Moreno caps D-Backs rally to tie series

*Photo from TSN* Series tied 2-2 This series just got a whole lot more interesting. Alek Thomas homered, Gabriel Moreno drove in the winning run, and the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies with a 6-5 victory on Friday night in Phoenix. All of a sudden, the D-Backs have won two straight games to tie this series up, forcing it back to Philadelphia for at least a game 6. Both wins have come on late game heroics, with Ketel Marte walking it off in game 3 and Moreno playing the hero in game 4. Arizona outfielder Corbin Carroll said "Some huge hits today, almost too many to count. Gabi, Alek, just an unbelievable win. We’ve just got a group of guys that believe in each other and believe in ourselves. We’ve got full confidence in that next-man-up mentality." Perez to start season on IL, facing multi week absence

*Photo from Fish Stripes* Miami Marlins RHP Eury Perez will start the season on the 15 Day IL due to right elbow inflammation, according to Craig Mish of the Miami Herald. The inflammation revealed upon testing will keep Perez out for multiple weeks but surgery is not needed at this time. Perez initially experienced soreness in his elbow on March 14, the day after exiting a start early due to discomfort stemming from a broken nail on his finger. Further examination has come back clean outside of the inflammation. Perez has been dealing with nail issues this spring. He cut a start short on March 2 since a broken nail was impacting his slider. He wore a fake nail his next time out while avoiding his slider. His nail has since grown back and he is starting to get back to a normal throwing routine.
