Cobb and Gimenez shine as Guardians complete sweep of Cubs

Andres Gimenez drove in 3 runs, Alex Cobb shined on the mound, and the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Chicago Cubs with a 6-1 victory Wednesday night in Cleveland. The Guardians secured the 3 game sweep of the Cubs and increased their winning streak to 5 games with the win. At 72-49, they have the best record in the AL and are particularly dominant at home, with a 38-20 record at Progressive Field. After the first 3 innings were scoreless, the Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th inning. Cody Bellinger got the Cubs on the board with a sac fly that scored Seiya Suzuki. In the bottom of the inning, Josh Naylor tied the game with an RBI double that scored Jose Ramirez. Naylor then scored on an RBI single by Gimenez to make it 2-1 Guardians. Cardinals score 8 runs in 7th to take down Angels

*Photo from AP News* Talk about an offensive explosion. Ivan Herrera drove in two runs, Nolan Arenado homered, and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Angels with a 10-5 victory Monday night in Anaheim. The Cardinals got off on the right foot to open this series, though it didn't appear that way at first. Shut out through 6 innings, it appeared as if another loss was in order for the team. All it took was a 8 run showing in the 7th inning to wind up in the win column, turning the game on its head. Arenado said of the Cardinals big inning that "It was great to see us rally and come back and have a big inning. It seems like that’s the way we’re scoring runs. It couldn’t have come at a better time. We didn’t give in as the game went on, so that was really good." Naylor grand slam propels Guardians past Angels

*Photo from ESPN* One swing can make or break the whole game. Austin Hedges homered, Bo Naylor blasted a grand slam, and the Cleveland Guardians rolled past the Los Angeles Angels with a 7-1 victory Saturday in Cleveland. After losing two straight games, the Guardians picked up a much needed win, just their 4th in 10 games. It came on the back of their two catchers, with Hedges and Naylor combining to drive in 6 of the 7 runs scored by the Guardians offense. The long ball told the tale for Cleveland as well, with 3 homers being hit by the lineup. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said of Naylor that "It’s good for him to have an offensive day and not have to be locked into scouting reports and calling a game and going back and forth. He’s just a click off. What a huge moment for him, left on left, not an easy matchup for him, kind of challenged him a little bit today, but he answered the call and came up with a huge hit."
