MLB News 6/21/18

Hey guys! It's been a while. Here's some MLB News as of June 21, 2018
1. I have previously talked about the Cubs being the favorite to land Manny Machado, but the Padres have had other ideas. Entering the Machado Sweepstakes as a dark horse candidate, the Padres are only 7 1/2 games behind of the NL West lead, and a power bat like Machado could thrust them into the NL West lead and playoff contention.
2. Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard is nearing a return to the Mets rotation, who desperately need him after struggling through a 4-14 June so far. He has been out of action for a month dealing with a finger problem, and he's not paying attention to trade rumors. Syndergaard has said that "To be quite honest I haven’t been paying much attention to that mumbo jumbo, I can only control what’s in my control. If that were to happen, it’s completely outside of what I am capable of controlling."
3. During Monday night's Phillies-Cardinals game, the Phillie Phanatic shot a hot dog into the face of Phillie fan Kathy McVay, who was hospitalized. McVay was diagnosed with a small hematoma in her eye, along with soreness and bruises, but does not appear to have a concussion. McVay does not intend to pursue legal action against the Phillies, but said that other fans should to "be aware" of flying objects while at the ballpark.
4. Miscellaneous news: Tigers, Royals, to play 1st MLB game in Nebraska next season, Cardinals' Wacha to the 10 day DL with oblique strain, Mariners talking with Tigers about pitcher Boyd, David Ortiz, Torii Hunter to manage all star futures game, Phillies showing interest in 3B Beltre
