Lucroy, Angels agree to deal

The Los Angeles Angels and journeyman Catcher Jonathan Lucroy have agreed to a 1 year, $3.35 million deal last night. Lucroy has played for several major league teams over his 9 year career, most recently the Oakland Athletics for the duration of last year. Last year he hit for a .241 average with 51 RBI's in 126 games. He has played for teams such as Oakland, Milwaukee, Texas, and Colorado, and figures to fill a void in the Angels catching department after Martin Maldonado was traded last July.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker to a 1 year, $3.5 million deal as of last night, according to Yahoo Sports reporter Jeff Passan. Shoemaker has only pitched 21 games over the last 2 seasons due to injuries, 14 of which were in 2017 before he suffered a small hematoma and skull fracture. 6 of his 7 starts this season were in September, after suffering a forearm injury on opening day. Shoemaker, who was non-tendered by the Angels, has a career 3.93 ERA and a 40-32 record, with 409 strikeouts over 545 innings pitched.
