Mejia re-instated, signed by Sox

The Boston Red Sox have signed RHP Jenrry Mejia to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training, according to Jon Heyman. Mejia was previously banned from baseball for life after testing positive for PED's on three separate occasions, but was conditionally re-instated last summer. Mejia last appeared in a uniform in 2015, and threw 7 1/3 innings for the New York Mets. In July of 2018, commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement that "On July 6, 2018, the league office conditionally reinstated Mejia after the pitcher appealed the prior decision. "Mr. Mejia expressed regret for poor choices he made in the past and assured me that, if reinstated, he would adhere to the terms of the (Joint Drug) Program going forward." He was first suspended in April 2015, then again shortly after returning from his 80 game suspension, tested positive again and was suspended for 162 games, and then after testing positive a third time during his second suspension, was banned from baseball for life
