Mikolas gets 4 year extension from Cardinals

Miles Mikolas and the St.Louis Cardinals have reportedly agreed to a 4 year, $68 million extension, as first reported by Jon Heyman. Mikolas was a revelation last year, as the Cards picked him up from Japan and he became almost an ace for them. Ken Rosenthal first broke that the Mikolas extension starts in 2020 and goes through 2023. Mikolas tied the national league lead in wins last season with 18, and had a 2.83 ERA. Mikolas went under the radar to a lot of people, and exploded with a big year. I personally love the story of Mikolas. Someone stuck in Japan pitching, and when they get their chance with a MLB team, they take advantage of it and get a nice hearty extension for their breakout year. Mikolas also adds to his breakout as he was named the Cardinals opening day starter on Saturday. The Cardinals had a big offseason, acquiring Paul Goldschmidt and signing Andrew Miller and re-signing Jose Martinez.
