Red Sox extend SS Bogaerts

The reigning world champion Boston Red Sox are reportedly finalizing an extension with shortstop Xander Bogaerts for 7 years and $132 million, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Last year, Bogaerts had a breakout year, hitting a personal high 23 home runs while driving in 103 runners. He played in 136 of 162 games last year after bouncing around the then-disabled list. Bogaerts is one of the better defensive shortstops in baseball, and is, in my opinion, one of the more underrated players in baseball, considering he is a 20 home run hitter and one of the better fielding shortstops. He was a finalist for the AL Gold Glove at shortstop in 2015, and just barely missed the finalist title in 2018.
