Trout gets huge extension from halos

Mike Trout and the Los Angels are finalizing a 12 year, $430 million extension, according to Jeff Passan. This will make Trout's contract the highest in professional sports and will keep him in LA for his entire career. Trout, who has won 2 AL MVP awards, will receive around $36 million per year. This deal is 30% larger than Bryce Harper's megadeal with Philly. Trout was set to be a free agent after 2020.

Trout is a generational talent, and has put up some of the most impressive statlines in baseball. He  has hit .307 with 240 home runs over his career. Trout signs with a team that has made the playoffs just once in his eight major league seasons. Trout was the 25th pick in the 2009 draft, and made his debut at 19 years old in the 2011 season, blazing through the minors. In 2012, he won the AL Rookie of the year award.
