Anatomy of a Red Sox sweep


   The Boston Red Sox swept the AL East leading Tampa Bay Rays today with a 4-3 11th inning win. Here's how they did it

Game 1(April 19)
With the Sox down 2-0 in the 5th inning, Rafael Devers got the Sox on the board with an RBI Double, scoring JD Martinez. Later that inning, Christian Vazquez hit a go ahead 2 run homer, giving Boston a 3-2 lead. After Martinez made it 4-2 with an RBI single, Eduardo Rodriguez gave that lead away with a Daniel Robertson double to tie the game at 4. In the 8th, Mookie Betts and Mitch Moreland hit back to back homers to give Boston a 6-4 lead. Ryan Brasier got the 9th inning save to preserve the victory

Game 2(April 20)
It was Rick Porcello for the Sox, going against Tampa's Charlie Morton. In the 2nd inning, Sandy Leon got hit with a pitch, chasing in a run and giving Boston a 1-0 lead. Andrew Benintendi came up next, and blasted a grand slam, making it 5-0 Boston. Tampa tied the game at 5, and then came the top of the 9th. Michael Chavis got his first big league hit, which  was a double and moved Jackie Bradley Jr to 3rd base. Benintendi then scored him on a sac fly, making it 6-5. Christian Vazquez picked off Tommy Pham at first to end the game, giving the Sox a win and Ryan Brasier the save.

Game 3(April 21)
David Price took the ball in the matinee game on Easter. Mitch Moreland got Boston on the board in the 4th, making it 2-1 in favor of Tampa. In the top of the 6th, Xander Bogaerts singled in Mookie Betts and Steve Pearce to put the Sox in front 3-2. Tampa tied the game, and off to extra innings they went. In the 11th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Christian Vazquez hit a sacrifice fly to score Rafael Devers and give the Sox a 4-3 lead, one they wouldn't give up. Ryan Brasier got his 6th save, and David Price struck out 10 batters.
