Archer, Puig suspended for brawl in Pittsburgh

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Yasiel Puig and Pittsburgh Pirates RHP Chris Archer have been suspended for their roles in the benches clearing brawl in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Puig gets a 2 game suspension, while Archer gets 5 for throwing behind Derek Dietrich. The League ruled that Archer threw at Dietrich intentionally. Reds Manager David Bell also got a one game suspension. Both Bell and Puig started serving their suspensions today. Bell will be back tomorrow, and Puig will be back for Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins. It is unclear if Archer will appeal his suspension.

Puig, Archer, and Bell all got fined an undisclosed amount of Money. Puig had to be restrained by Joey Votto and Melky Cabrera, and then as the conflict settled down, Puig broke free and ran toward the main group, having to be stopped by teammate Tucker Barnhart. The Reds and Pirates will play many more times this season, maybe this will happen again.
