Benches clear in Pittsburgh, 5 players ejected

A benches clearing incident occurred in Pittsburgh today after Pirates pitcher Chris Archer threw behind the back of Derek Dietrich of Cincinnati. The Incident likely happened because Dietrich stood in the batters box for a while, seemingly admiring his long home run that he hit into the Allegheny River. Archer was warned after throwing behind Dietrich, much to the dismay of manager David Bell, who immediately hopped out of the dugout and started complaining.

After the bullpens and benches emptied, Yasiel Puig had to be restrained by teammate Joey Votto and Pirates ouutfielder Melky Cabrera. Puig eventually broke free, lunging back toward the group, and had to wrestle with teammate Tucker Barnhart to get to them. Puig and Bell were ejected by home plate umpire Jeff Kellogg, as well as Reds pitcher Amir Garrett and 2 Pirates relievers in Keone Kela and Felipe Vazquez. Archer eventually struck out Dietrich, but Dietrich ended up hitting another homer into the river later on. To watch the full video, click here.
