Braves extend Acuna for 8 years

The Atlanta Braves and young gun OF Ronald Acuna have agreed to an 8 year, $100 million extension, the team announced today. The deal has options for 2027 and 2028, which have a $10 million buyout value and would pay Acuna $17 million over both those years if the options are exercised. The deal begins this season, and is the largest contract given to a player with as little major league playing time as Acuna(he was called up at the end of last April). This contract is also the second largest in Braves history, behind Freddie Freeman's 8 year, $135 million deal.

The 21 year old Acuna was named National League Rookie of the year in 2018,  in which he hit .293 with 26 homers and 64 RBI, to go along with 16 steals. He was initially signed as an international free agent by the Braves 5 years ago, when he was 16.
