Jays extend Grichuk for 5 years


   The Toronto Blue Jays have extended OF Randal Grichuk for 5 years and $52 million, the team announced yesterday. This contract buys out 3 of Grichuk's free agency years, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Grichuk will earn $7 million this season, and has a $5 million signing bonus.  There are no club options or player opt outs. Grichuk said that “I love the city, I like the direction the team is going. I see the vision, I see a lot of young, talented players that can be very impactful," and that "They have a vision and I want to be a part of it."Grichuk hit 25 home runs for the Jays last season after being traded to them from the St.Louis Cardinals. The extension comes after Kevin Pillar was traded to the Giants yesterday.
