Pillar traded to San Francisco

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded OF Kevin Pillar to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for IF Alen Hanson and RHP's Derek Law and Juan De Paula. Pillar was one of the only holdovers from Toronto's 2015 AL East winning team. The Jays have dealt Russell Martin and Josh Donaldson, bought out Troy Tulowitzki, and let Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion leave via free agency. Pillar is known for his amazing catches in center field and famously robbed a homer in left field in 2015. Pillar has hit .260 with 55 homers and 69 Stolen Bases.

The 26 year old Hanson has played 243 games in the majors, and has played 2nd, shortstop, 3rd, and all outfield positions, giving Toronto some much needed versatility. The 28 year old Law made his MLB debut in 2016, and has a 3.83 ERA in 105 2/3 innings. De Paula was the number 19 prospect in the Giants farm system, and had a 1.72 ERA over 52 1/3 innings across two minor league levels last season.
