Red Sox call up top prospect Chavis

The struggling Boston Red Sox have called up top prospect Michael Chavis from Triple A Pawtucket. IF Eduardo Nunez was placed on the 10 day injured list(IL) and Chavis was his replacement. Through 12 Triple A games, Chavis has hit .250 with 4 home runs, all clearing the McCoy stadium bleachers. Chavis was the only Sox prospect on MLB pipeline's top 100 prospects.

Dustin Pedroia was also placed on the IL yesterday with some knee problems, but it doesn't appear to be very serious. The Sox called up Marcus Walden to take his spot and they also called up IF Tzu-Wei Lin. To create space for Lin, RHP Erasmo Ramirez was DFA'd.
