Rockies ace Marquez gets extension

The Colorado Rockies have extended ace RHP German Marquez for 5 years and $43 million, according to Jeff Passan. There is a club option for a 6th year that can become a mutual option if Marquez finishes in the top 3 in Cy Young voting at least twice during the contract. This extension will cover all of Marquez's arbitration eligibility. The Rockies already extended Nolan Arenado last winter, and Charlie Blackmon last spring around this time. Marquez went 11-7 with a 4.39 ERA in his rookie season in 2017. Last year, he went 14-11 with a 3.77 ERA.
