Tatis, Pollock, Rendon to IL

The San Diego Padres have placed SS Fernando Tatis Jr on the 10 day IL with a left hamstring strain, the team announced earlier today. The extent of Tatis' injuries is unknown, and he is undergoing tests to determine a timetable for his return. San Diego's number 1 prospect, and one of the top prospects in MLB, injured his hamstring while going for a ball in the 10th inning of Sunday's loss to the Washington Nationals. The Padres have shifted Manny Machado over to short to replace Tatis, while rookie Ty France will start at 3rd, at least for tonight's game against Atlanta. The team called up another top shortstop prospect, Luis Urias, after Sunday's game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed OF AJ Pollock on the 10 day IL with what appears to be right elbow inflammation, the team announced earlier today. Matt Beaty was called up from Triple A Oklahoma City to replace Pollock on the roster. The elbow issue forced Pollock out of Monday's game against the Giants, and this is the same elbow that has given Pollock plenty of injuries before. He has had 2 separate elbow surgeries on that elbow in his career. Manager Dave Roberts said "It was something that came out of nowhere."

The Washington Nationals have placed 3B Anthony Rendon on the 10 day IL with a left elbow contusion, the team announced today. They placed Rendon on the IL retroactive to Saturday. The injury was caused by Rendon being hit in the elbow by a pitch on April 20, and although the inital x-rays came back negative, he's played just once since then. He is first eligible to return May 7, and manager Dave Martinez said that Rendon is waiting for the swelling to go down. Pitcher Dan Jennings was called up from Double A Harrisburg to replace Rendon. To make room for Jennings, Austin Adams was DFA'd.
