The Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the Michigan Wolverines 8-2 last night to win the 2019 College World Series. Vanderbilt RHP Mason Hickman allowed one hit and struck out 10 Michigan hitters over 6 innings of work. Catcher Phillip Clarke had 3 hits and OF Stephen Scott had a big 2 run single for Vanderbilt.

The Wolverines won game 1, but the Commodores took game 2 thanks to a great performance by ace Kumar Rocker, who won the most outstanding player in the CWS, becoming the 6th freshman to do so. Over 28 innings in the tournament, Rocker went 4-0 with a 0.96 ERA and 44 strikeouts. This is Vanderbilt's second College World Series Championship, with the first one coming just 5 years ago, in 2014.
