Brandon Crawford went 5-6, had 8 RBI, and the San Francisco Giants absolutely trounced the Colorado Rockies 19-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. Buster Posey added a homer, and Mike Yastrzemski went 4-6 to follow Crawford's lead. The Giants have run into a hot streak, with 9 wins in 11 games.

The Giants started the romp with 5 runs in the first inning, thanks to an RBI single by Alex Dickerson, a 3 run homer by Crawford, and a solo shot by Yastrzemski. In the 3rd, Yaz added a two run double to center, Kevin Pillar added an RBI double, Joe Panik and Brandon Belt had run-scoring singles, and Posey ripped a 2 run bomb to center field to make it 12-0. In the 4th, Crawford knocked in a run on a single to make it 13-0. In the 6th, Crawford hit his second homer of the game for two more runs, and Pillar added another RBI double to make it 16-0. In the 8th, Panik doubled in a run, and Crawford hit a 2 run single in the 9th to make it 19 runs.

The Rockies got their two runs on a solo homer by Raimel Tapia in the 6th and a solo homer by Ryan McMahon in the 7th. German Marquez took the loss for Colorado, giving up 11 runs on 11 hits over 2 2/3 innings pitched. In an effort to preserve his bullpen, Rockies manager Bud Black put 1B Mark Reynolds in to pitch in the 9th inning. Reynolds allowed 2 runs on 2 hits. Black needed to save some bullpen arms for the second game of the doubleheader, which is why he put in Reynolds.

The Giants are calling up righty Dereck Rodriguez from Triple A Sacramento to start the second game of the doubleheader. The Rockies are calling up righty Chi Chi Gonzalez from Triple A Albuquerque to start the second game.
