Daniel Murphy drove in 6 runs, German Marquez pitched 7 strong innings, and the Colorado Rockies cruised by the Cincinnati Reds by a 12-2 score tonight. The Rockies have consecutive wins for the first time since June 28 and 29. Murphy hit a 3 run homer and a 3 run double for his 6 RBI. David Dahl and Charlie Blackmon also added to the festivities.

Murphy started the scoring with his 3 run shot in the first off of Reds starter Luis Castillo. The Reds quickly added two on a Joey Votto RBI groundout and a Josh VanMeter solo homer. That would be it for the Reds. In the 4th, Blackmon doubled in Tony Wolters, and Dahl ripped a 2 run homer to make it 6-2. The scoring didn't resume until the 9th inning, when Blackmon singled in a run. Murphy cleared the bases with a 3 run double, Ryan McMahon singled him in, and Raimel Tapia shot an RBI double to center field to make it 12-2.

German Marquez pitched 7 strong innings, striking out 7 batters and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and no walks. Castillo lost for the first time since June 29, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings, more runs than he had allowed in his last 4 starts combined. Nick Senzel was out of the lineup for the Reds after leaving Wednesday's loss to Milwaukee with dizziness. The Reds send Anthony DeSclafani to the mound for game two on Saturday, while Colorado will call up Chi Chi Gonzalez from Triple A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game.
