Trade deadline!

   There have been a lot of recent trades, so I'm going to combine into a few posts unless a big trade happens.

   The San Francisco Giants have traded Drew Pomeranz and Ray Black to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league infielder Mauricio Dubon. Pomeranz has struggled to the tune of a 6.10 ERA and a demotion to the bullpen. He since has allowed one hit and one walk over 5 1/3 innings. Black has a 6.04 ERA over 25 1/3 innings in the majors. Dubon is the number 3 prospect in Milwaukee's system. He has a .297 average with 16 homers in the minors.

   The Miami Marlins have traded RHP Zac Gallen to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league SS Jazz Chisholm. Gallen has a 2.72 ERA with the Marlins this season, and he made his debut on June 20. He could be an immediate factor in Arizona's rotation, with Robbie Ray expected to be traded. Chisholm is the D-Backs number one prospect, so good return for Miami. He is hitting .204 with 18 homers at Double A this year.

   The Oakland Athletics have acquired RHP Tanner Roark from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor leaguer Jameson Hannah. Cincinnati will pay the remaining $2.1 million on Roark's salary. He'll join a veteran A's rotation of Mike Fiers, Brett Anderson, and Homer Bailey. The A's have lost Frankie Montas due to PED's. The Reds rotation should now be Trevor Bauer, Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray, Alex Wood, and Anthony DeScalfani.

   The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded OF Corey Dickerson to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for International slot money and a player to be named later. Dickerson is hitting .317 with 4 homers over 43 games. He is scheduled to hit free agency this offseason. The Phillies need outfield depth, with Odubel Herrera and Andrew McCutchen done for the year, and Jay Bruce injured as well.

   The St.Louis Cardinals have traded utilityman Jedd Gyorko to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The return is not known. Gyorko is currently on the 60 day IL with a lower back strain. He was hitting .196 with two homers before landing on the IL. Prior to this season, he was a steady force for the Cardinals. He has a $13 million team option for next year.

   The San Francisco Giants have traded RHP Mark Melancon to the Atlanta Braves. The return is not known. The Braves need bullpen help, especially since they blew a 4-2 lead to the Nationals today. The 34 year old Melancon has recorded 183 career saves, but hasn't been a closer since 2017. Melancon has a 1.40 WHIP and a 3.50 ERA in 43 appearances this season for the Giants.

   The Atlanta Braves have acquired RHP Shane Greene from the Detroit Tigers. The return is not known, and the clubs have not confirmed. Greene is in the midst of a breakout year, with a 1.18 ERA and 22 saves for the Tigers. The Braves need bullpen help, especially because they blew a 4-2 lead to the Nationals, and Greene should help. They also added Mark Melancon. He is earning $4 million this season.
