The San Francisco Giants have hired former Chicago Cubs executive Scott Harris to be their general manager, according to the team. Harris spent 7 years in the Cubs front office, and was the assistant GM for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He works with Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, who was hired last November. He reportedly was highly recommended by Cubs executives Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer for the job.

Zaidi said of the hire that "We're thrilled to be able to bring in an executive of Scott's caliber to help lead our Baseball Operations group, the combination of his breadth of experience, contributions toward building a championship-winning perennial contender in Chicago and his Bay Area roots made him an ideal fit for our General Manager position and I'm looking forward to executing our vision together." The Giants still need to find a manager after longtime manager Bruce Bochy retired at the end of the regular season.
