Wrapping up the offseason previews, here's the NL west.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have been NL west champions for the last 7 years, mostly through discipline, player development, and versatility. If the Dodgers did nothing, literally nothing this offseason, and they would still be a team that would compete for a world series title. Despite this, they haven't won a world series since 1988, so they might have to ask themselves if they need to reconstruct the way they do things. They might still sign a star like Gerrit Cole or Anthony Rendon, but either the Dodgers will stay the course, or shake things up.

Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks traded away Zack Greinke and Paul Goldschmidt, and let AJ Pollock walk, but they were still competitive and just barely missed out on the playoffs. Now, what they need to decide is whether to compete or keep selling pieces. Ketel Marte seems like a star they could build an organization around, and there are some guys with upside. They have a good top 3 starters in Robbie Ray, Luke Weaver, and Zac Gallen. The D-Backs are a team to watch this winter.

San Francisco Giants
The Giants went on a tear in July, and were only a few games out of the wild card with the trade deadline looming. That was all they did, as they fizzled out after that. Now, will Farhan Zaidi completely blow it up and make it a full scale rebuild? Madison Bumgarner is a free agent, and there are some guys like Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, and Johnny Cueto that could be traded for some nice returns. They have a need to reboot, as their roster is aging and they have a top heavy payroll, but they indeed may not.

Colorado Rockies
The problem in Colorado, as it always is, is pitching. It was horrible last season, and there aren't a whole lot of sure things outside of German Marquez. Kyle Freeland and Jon Gray had bad seasons, there expensive bullpen was awful, and they had a whole lot of injuries on the hitting side of things. They have $38 million to work with before the luxury tax threshold kicks in, but they might not be willing to shell out another big contract. The 2020 Rockies may end up looking a lot like the 2019 Rockies.

San Diego Padres
Now that they have some upside at the major league level and a fantastic farm system, the pressure is on to compete in San Diego. The thing that will put an exclamation mark on that is landing a star. They could use another pitcher behind Chris Paddack in the rotation, and some middle or back of the rotation help would be useful as well. They've been linked to both Cole and Stephen Strasburg, but they might not get any of them. There are a lot of things they could do, so keep an eye on these guys during the winter.
