The Texas Rangers have signed 3B Todd Frazier to a one year, $5 million contract, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News. Frazier will earn $3.5 million in 2020. There is a $5.75 million team option for the 2021 season, with a $1.5 million buyout, guaranteeing Frazier $5 million. Frazier is slated to start at 3rd base, but could also see time at first base. He has played 97 career games at first, with 43 of them coming in 2014.

Frazier hit .251 with 21 homers and 67 RBI for the New York Mets in 2019. He played 133 games for the team at 3rd base. Frazier is a career .243 hitter with 214 homers and 624 RBI in his 9 year career. He has played a total of 1,186 games. The Rangers picked up Frazier after Anthony Rendon turned them down and signed with the Los Angeles Angels instead. They are still linked to Colorado Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado in trade talks, and are willing to take on the $324 million left on Arenado's massive contract.
