The St.Louis Cardinals signed IF Brad Miller to a one year, $2 million deal, according to the team. The Cardinals placed RHP Jordan Hicks on the 60 day IL to make room for Miller on the 40 man roster. Miller will join the Cardinals position players when they report to their spring training facilities in Jupiter, FL, on Sunday. Miller is a utility player who can play all over the infield, and has logged some time in the outfield, giving the Cardinals depth all around the field.

Miller's 2019 season was busy. It started off with Miller being a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers in spring training. He was released when spring training ended and signed with the Indians. He lasted about two weeks in Cleveland before being DFA'd, and he ripped the Indians when he was DFA'd, saying that they didn't want the best players on their team. He then signed with the New York Yankees on a minor league deal, playing with Triple A Scranton/Wilkes Barre before being sent to the Philadelphia Phillies, where he remained the rest of 2019. Miller has also played for the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, and Tampa Bay Rays in his career.

Despite all the teams, Miller had a solid 2019, hitting .260 with 13 homers and 25 RBI in 79 games at the major league level. He stole two bases and had an .894 OPS, so he got on base at a good clip. The bulk of his production came with the Phillies, playing 66 games in Philadelphia as opposed to 13 in Cleveland. Miller is a career .241 hitter with 88 homers and 293 RBI in 7 major league seasons. He has a career OPS of .733. Miller will compete for a utility infield spot with Tommy Edman, Yairo Muñoz and Edmundo Sosa this spring.
