Major League Baseball is looking to finish the 2020 regular season outside of Arizona, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. After a report surfaced that MLB was looking to play the entire 2020 regular season in Arizona, Passan reports that MLB is looking to start the regular season there, but that the hope is that they can finish the regular season in the team's home cities. The plan to start the season in Arizona would have opening day occurring in May.

Passan went on ESPN show "Get Up" on Monday morning and discussed that potential plan. He said that "The hope is that Arizona starts as a biosphere and that they can move beyond this biosphere and go back to their cities. And, even though they will probably be playing in empty stadiums for the rest of the year, the idea is that this would be a two- or maybe three-month thing as opposed to a four- or five- or six-month thing that encapsulates the entire season."

Despite this, Passan did agree that the entire season could still end up being played in Arizona, but that in an ideal situation, they want to spend as little time in Arizona as possible. Passan mentioned that even though there are other options on the table, he thinks it will be Arizona or bust for MLB in regards to the 2020 season. Other plans on the table include the teams playing the entire season in Florida and Arizona, at their spring training sites, but that idea seems unlikely to occur because it would require division realignment.
