World Series champions of the 2010's: 2017 Houston Astros

Up next, it's the most hated team in baseball, the 2017 Houston Astros.

The Astros have had a rough franchise history. They were blessed with some awful, awful teams. Then, they started to turn it around in 2015 and 2016, and there was hope in Houston entering 2017. The Astros went on a tear, winning the AL West with a 101-61 record with a team who was looking to win their first ever title.

In the ALDS, the Astros took on the AL East champions, the Boston Red Sox, who were looking to go farther into the playoffs this time around, instead of being swept like last year. Game one was all Astros, cruising to an 8-2 win. That score was duplicated in game two, and the Astros won again. The Red Sox managed to stay alive in game 3 as the bats came alive in a 10-3 rout. In game 4, a late Alex Bregman homer gave Houston the lead, and after a late rally by Boston, Houston managed to close it out with a 5-4 win to advance to the ALCS.

In the ALCS, the Astros took on another AL East team, the New York Yankees. Game one was a pitchers battle, but the Astros inched out a 2-1 win. The Astros also won by a 2-1 score in game two, heading to New York in good position. The Yankees took advantage of the home field, winning game 3 8-1, game 4 6-4, and game 5 5-0 to take the lead in the ALCS, shocking Houston. When the series went back to Houston for game 6, the Astros forced game 7 with a 7-1 win. In game 7, Charlie Morton gave the Astros a great start and they won 4-0 to clinch the AL Pennant and advance to the World Series.

In the World Series, they faced the NL Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, who won 104 games in the regular season, and knocked out the Arizona Diamondbacks and defending champion Chicago Cubs out of the playoffs. The Dodgers took a pitchers battle in game one by a 3-1 score. The Astros bounced back in game two, winning an 11 inning thriller by a 7-6 score. The Astros then took the series lead in game 3 with a 5-3 win. The Dodgers managed to bounce back in game 4 with a 6-2 win. Game 5 was one of the best games of baseball in recent memory. It was high in emotion and was close all night long. The Astros prevailed with a walkoff 13-12 win in 10 innings. The Dodgers forced a game 7 with a 3-1 win in game 6. In game 7, the Astros secured their first ever World Series title with a 5-1 win.

I know these guys are horrible cheaters that taint the image of baseball, but MLB didn't take the trophy from them, so they're technically still 2017 World Series champions. Even though the entire season is tainted, they are still champions, so that's why I wrote about them anyway. Direct all anger towards the Astros to the comments section please.
