The 2020 MLB season will be 60 games long, it's shortest ever season. This will ramp up the intensity level due to every game having big implications, and Cincinnati Reds reliever Michael Lorenzen is loving it. When being interviewed, he mentioned that he loves the intensity level ramping up for the shortened season.

During his interview, Lorenzen said that "The intensity is going to be there just because we know every win matters, it's going to be fun. You definitely won't hear an interview after a loss, 'Well, you know, it's a long season.' You know what I mean, and I hate that answer, but it's true. But when it's a 60-game season, there's a little bit more sense of urgency to win every single game, so every win is going to feel that much better and every loss is going to sting that much more."

Teammate Sonny Gray also chimed in, saying that "Obviously, you would like to get off to a hot start, there are going to be so many uncertainties and the game is going to feel so much different than normal, so the team that embraces that and can come together during this will have a better chance."

Due to the season only being 60 games, the pressure is on from opening day onward. A slow start in a shortened season may end up becoming irreparable for some teams, especially given the thin margin for error. Last year's world champions, the Washington Nationals, were 27-33 in their first 60 games of the season, so quick starts are crucial. Training camps open on July 1, with the season kicking off 3 weeks later on July 23.
