The biggest free agent left on the market finally has a new home. The Atlanta Braves have signed OF Yasiel Puig to a contract, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The Braves have not confirmed the deal, as it is pending a physical and likely a negative COVID-19 test before being finalized.

In 2019, Puig hit .267 with 24 homers and 84 RBI in 149 games played between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. He only hit two homers after being traded to Cleveland at the trade deadline. In his career, Puig is a .277 hitter with 132 homers and 415 RBI in 861 games played between the Reds, Indians, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Puig burst onto the scene in 2013 with his cannon arm from right field, which hasn't lost much power.

The Braves decided to sign Puig after OF Nick Markakis opted out of playing in the 2020 season last week and top outfield prospect Cristian Pache suffered an ankle injury last night. Puig joins a Braves outfield that includes Ronald Acuna Jr, Adam Duvall, Ender Inciarte, and Marcell Ozuna. Puig previously received contract offers from the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Tampa Bay Rays, and Miami Marlins.
