Free agent outfielder Yasiel Puig was all set to sign with the Atlanta Braves. Until it didn’t happen. Puig won’t sign with the Braves after he tested positive for COVID-19, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Puig then confirmed the news in a twitter post on Friday.

Puig said in the post that "I would have never believed looking in the mirror that I had COVID-19, I urge everyone to take this pandemic seriously, this can happen to anyone, even the healthiest athlete. Wear a mask, social distance, and follow your local protocols. Please take care of yourselves. I will see you all very soon when I return to play ball.”

Puig has been asymptomatic leading up to and after his test for COVID. He said he feels fine and will quarantine until receiving two negative test results within 24 hours, and not having a fever for at least 72 hours. The discussions with the Braves were only going to be finalized if Puig tested negative for COVID, which didn’t happen. As such, Puig is still a free agent.
