Clayton Kershaw's career playoff performances have been, subpar, to say the least. That wasn't the story in game two against the Milwaukee Brewers. Kershaw struck out 13 hitters, Mookie Betts had two RBI, and the Los Angeles Dodgers shut out the Brewers by a 3-0 score to advance to the NLDS in the Texas bubble.

The game was quiet until the 5th inning, when the Dodgers offense got all their runs. Austin Barnes got the scoring started when he singled into center field, scoring Chris Taylor and making it 1-0 Dodgers. Later in the inning, Betts doubled to left field, scoring Barnes and AJ Pollock, making it a 3-0 lead for the Dodgers, which was enough for Kershaw.

Kershaw threw 8 innings of dominating performance, allowing 3 hits and one walk, no runs, and he struck out 13 hitters, a new career high in the playoffs for Kershaw, and the most playoff strikeouts for any Dodgers pitcher since Sandy Koufax in the 1963 World Series, with 15 K's in game one. Kershaw said after the game that "This was a fun night for me, get the postseason off to a good start. It’s a good first step for sure."

Betts said of Kershaw's performance "That was pretty spectacular, for sure, he gave us all the opportunities in the world to capitalize." Manager Dave Roberts added on, saying that "Kershaw was just determined, he gave us all he had and all we needed."

Brewers star outfielder Christian Yelich said of another quick elimination that "Every time your season comes to an end, it’s a bummer, it's a bummer because it’s never the same team the next year. We went through a lot as a group. I’m definitely proud of the guys."

The Brewers head home for another offseason, while the Dodgers will play the winner of the Cardinals-Padres series in the NLDS.
