Milwaukee Brewers dominant reliever Josh Hader has been the subject of trade rumors basically since last winter, but despite all the rumors and the mock trade proposals flying around, the Brewers still are not intent on trading Hader, according to Brewers GM Matt Arnold, who says Hader is a long term piece of the core.

Arnold said on an MLB Network radio appearance that "Honestly, Hader is a guy that we get asked about a lot. He's been arguably, maybe the best reliever you know of the last several years in Major League Baseball, this guy is the keystone of the back of our bullpen and an anchor, and a guy that we need frankly. I feel like he's a guy that's a big part of our future here."

Arnold addressed the trade rumors as well, saying that "Certainly we're getting a lot of interest in him, as we should. But that being said, I anticipate that he's going to be part of our bullpen here in 2021, but, obviously, we're in a situation where it's important to always keep our options open at any point if really somebody calls."

Hader, who has been the rock of the Brewers bullpen since he debuted in the majors, had a slightly down year by his lofty standards in 2020. Hader posted a 1-2 record with a 3.79 ERA in 21 appearances for the Brewers, pitching 19 innings, recording 13 saves. In his 4 year major league career, Hader has a 12-11 record with a 2.54 ERA and 62 saves in 172 appearances, totaling 223 2/3 innings in that time.
