Attending a baseball game in the Covid era

I was in attendance for the Boston Red Sox 6-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in 12 innings last night at Fenway Park, and, while I didn't do a game recap about it, I figured I would write up a post about attending that game in this Covid society that we live in now, and I'm gonna discuss a couple things you need to know about watching a game in person in these Covid times.

Before going in, there is a health screening that you have to complete, which can be found on the MLB Ballpark app. If you clear the health screening, you are all set to start. Then, of course, gotta pass through security and scan the tickets, like always. At some ballparks, depending on the state you are in, proof of a recent negative Covid test or proof of Covid vaccination may also be required to enter, in addition to the health screenings.

Masks are absolutely essential. They are required for going to the ballpark, so it is imperative that you wear one, because you will be denied entry immediately if you do not wear one. During the game, you must have your mask on at all times, unless eating or drinking food, and there are personnel walking around the park to ensure mask wearing at all times.

The seats are spread out. Different states have different capacity limits for their ballparks, but nowhere is there 100 percent capacity yet. As such, seating is arranged in pods of two or 4 seats, and each pod of seats is spaced out to comply with social distancing guidelines. This definitely makes it feel weird, as there won't be a packed house, but the fans definitely shout and cheer like it is a packed house.

In terms of food, there will be the same concession stands as always, but you probably won't see all of them open, to try and promote social distancing. There are barriers between you and the food service people at the ballpark, and don't try and bring any cash with you, because ballparks have gone card only purchases for this year, to try and avoid contact and spreading of Covid.

So yeah, there's a little guide for you for watching a baseball game in person in the Covid era. Hope you found this helpful!
