It was a matter of time before they got this far. Ramon Laureano had a two run hit, Jonah Bride drove in a pair of runs, and the Oakland Athletics defeated the Milwaukee Brewers with a 5-2 victory on Friday night in Milwaukee.

The Athletics, baseball's worst team at 15-50, came into Milwaukee with two straight wins under their belt. They now have 3 straight wins, the first time they've reached that mark this season. In those 3 straight wins, they've outscored their opponents 25-9, a big showing for their hitting game.

Athletics infielder Ryan Noda said of the team's showing at the plate that "It's huge. We've still got to keep doing the little things. We've still got to keep picking each other up. We did a great job today of situational hitting."

Oakland got things started right away in the first inning. Laureano was first, hitting a triple that brought in Noda and Esteury Ruiz to make it 2-0 early. Bride then singled to left center field, scoring Laureano to make it a 3-0 game. In the top of the second inning, Ruiz hit an RBI single that brought in Shea Langeliers to make it 4-0 Oakland.

In the bottom of the second, the Brewers got themselves on the board. Blake Perkins hit an RBI double that scored Joey Wiemer to make it a 4-1 game. The Brewers then cut it to 4-2 when Perkins scored on an RBI double from Luis Urias. In the 5th, Seth Brown scored on a sac fly from Bride to make it a 5-2 lead for the A's, one they held on to.

Sam Moll served as an opener for the Athletics, pitching a scoreless first inning. Luis Medina then pitched the next 5 innings, allowing two runs on 3 hits and 3 walks to get the win. Lucas Erceg pitched two scoreless innings, with Trevor May getting the save with a shutout inning in the 9th.

Adrian Houser was the starter for the Brewers, getting tagged for 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks, lasting just 4 innings and getting the loss. Trevor Megill pitched the 5th before Hoby Milner pitched two scoreless innings. Bryse Wilson and Tyson Miller also pitched.

Houser said of his start after the game that "They're still going to try to come out and beat you every time. I went into it thinking the same way: 'They're trying to beat you, so you can't take it easy, can't take a day off. You have to go in there and attack.’ Today, they had a good game plan and were able to get to me."

Up next, the series continues on Saturday. The Athletics give the start to Paul Blackburn as they go for the series win, while the Brewers counter with veteran Julio Teheran.
