It's always trade season, especially now. The Atlanta Braves have acquired INF David Fletcher and C Max Stassi from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for 1B Evan White and LHP Tyler Thomas, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Both teams have confirmed.

After playing in 102 games in 2022, Stassi missed all of last season due to a medical issue in his family and a hip strain he suffered. The Angels traded his $7 million salary in 2024 and a $7.5 million team option for 2025. The Braves, with Sean Murphy and Travis D'Arnaud as their catching tandem, traded Stassi to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Braves will keep Fletcher to fill the role of backup infielder, as he can play second and 3rd base along with shortstop. He is owed $6 million in 2024 and $6.5 million in 2025, with team options for 2026 and 2027.

Last season, Fletcher spent the majority of the time with Triple A Salt Lake. In the time that he did spend in the majors, he had a .247/.302/.326 slash line with a 72 OPS+, hitting one double and two home runs with 12 RBI's and 7 walks in 33 games.

Fletcher has played in parts of 6 seasons in the majors, all of which have come wearing an Angels uniform. He has compiled a .277/.323/.359 slash line with 724 total bases and an 86 OPS+, hitting 16 home runs, 10 triples, and 98 doubles to go with 168 RBI's and 29 stolen bases in 534 games. He has never played in the postseason.

White signed a 6 year, $24 million contract in 2020 before debuting in the major leagues. He has been limited by injuries ever since, only appearing in 84 games and none since 2021. He has a .165/.235/.308 slash line with 10 home runs, 10 doubles, and 35 RBI's in those 84 games.

Thomas comes to the Angels just days after the Braves selected him from the New York Mets in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft. Combined between Double A Binghamton and Triple A Syracuse in 2023, Thomas posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.212 WHIP, averaging 10.6 strikeouts per 9 innings in 34 2/3 innings and 24 appearances, picking up 4 saves in the process.

With the Braves, Fletcher joins an infield group that features Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, and Orlando Arcia, with Vaughn Grissom also learning the outfield. White will compete for a backup role to Nolan Schanuel at first base with the Angels, while Thomas will compete for a bullpen spot.
