During crunch time, they found a way to get it done. The Texas Rangers and OF Adolis Garcia have agreed to a two year, $14 million contract, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The Rangers have confirmed the agreement.

The deal avoids arbitration for the next two years for Garcia, with a hearing being close for this year before the two agreed to terms. Through incentives, he can max out the deal at $20.25 million based on All-MLB team selections, MVP voting, and plate appearances. The Rangers maintain their run of not having gone to an arbitration hearing since 2000.

Garcia came up big for the Rangers in 2023. He ended the regular season with a .245/.328/.508 slash line to go with a 123 OPS+, bashing 39 home runs with 29 doubles and 107 RBI's in 148 games. His 39 home runs and .836 OPS were both career highs, as were his 107 RBI's.

The playoffs was where Garcia truly boomed. He introduced himself to the national stage with 8 home runs, 22 RBI's, a .323 batting average and 1.108 OPS in 15 games, including winning the World Series and winning the ALCS MVP in the Rangers series win over the Houston Astros.

Acquired from the Cardinals before 2020 in exchange for cash considerations, Garcia burst onto the scene in 2021 for the Rangers. He's hit 97 home runs over the last 3 years to go with 298 RBI's and 50 stolen bases, driving in over 100 runs in each of the last two seasons. He made the All Star Game in 2021 and 2023 and has increased his discipline at the plate year by year.

Garcia has played in 3 full seasons and parts of two more in the majors between the Cardinals and Rangers. He has a .244/.302/.468 slash line and a 110 OPS+ to his name, hitting 97 home runs with 90 doubles and 299 RBI's in 477 games. His monstrous 2023 postseason is his only playoff experience.

The Rangers enter 2024 with some turnover in the bullpen and starting rotation as they look to defend their World Series title.
