It's always trade season in baseball. The Minnesota Twins have acquired OF Manuel Margot and INF Rayne Doncon from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for INF Noah Miller, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com. Both teams have made the trade official.

The Twins and Dodgers swapped prospects, with the Dodgers 20th ranked prospect going to Minnesota as Miller, the Twins 23rd ranked prospect, winds up with the Dodgers. The Twins also get Margot, under contract for $10 million this season with a $12 million option for next year, to be a reliable option in the outfield.

As part of the trade, the Dodgers sent $6 million to the Twins to cover Margot's salary for this year. The Dodgers will be responsible for paying Margot the $2 million buyout if the Twins decline the $12 million option for 2025.

Last season was Margot's 4th with the Tampa Bay Rays after being traded there before the 2020 season. He had a .264/.310/.376 slash line with a 91 OPS+, hitting 21 doubles and 4 home runs to go with 38 RBI's in 99 games. He had one hit in 7 plate appearances over two playoff games.

Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli said of Margot that "I’m pretty familiar with him. He’s a guy we’ve been looking at for a while. You could call it a targeted move. We always talk about rounding out our team with the right kind of players. He is that kind of player, great character off the field and in the clubhouse, and a guy who can do a lot of things for the team."

With franchise face Byron Buxton still working on a return to the outfield, Margot is a reliable defender that the Twins can use in center field as well as the corner spots if Buxton is hampered by injury once again. Buxton last played in the outfield in August of 2022 and was the DH all of last year, so he'll likely need time to re-adjust.

Doncon can play shortstop, second base, and 3rd base for the Twins, just finishing his second year of full season baseball. With Low A Rancho Cucamonga, Doncon had a .216/.283/.368 slash line, hitting 14 home runs and 21 doubles with 52 RBI's in 107 games.

Miller is a 21 year old middle infielder who was a first round draft pick of the Twins in 2021. With High A Cedar Rapids, Miller had a .223/.309/.340 slash line with 8 home runs, 20 doubles, and 60 RBI's in 120 games.
