Beating one of baseball's best teams? Check. Fernando Tatis Jr drove in two runs, Jake Cronenworth homered, and the San Diego Padres defeated the Atlanta Braves with a 9-1 victory Sunday night in Atlanta.

After winning game one of the series 3-1, the Padres offense woke up in a big way, exploding for 9 runs in the second of 4 games of the series. The big story was Yu Darvish. He picked up his 200th win, 3rd most among Japanese MLB pitchers. Huroki Kuroda and Hideo Nomo are the only ones with more.

Darvish said of the milestone that "Those two other pitchers, Hideo Nomo and Hiroki Kuroda, obviously we know how good they are. Just to be able to be a little closer to them, I feel honored and it gives me confidence moving forward."

Cronenworth got the scoring started, hitting a two run home run in the first inning to make it 2-0 Padres. Jackson Merrill then added an RBI single to make it 3-0 Padres. In the 4th inning, Tatis Jr drove in two runs with a double to right field that made it a 5-0 game. Tatis Jr then scored on a Jurickson Profar double to make it 6-0.

Xander Bogaerts made it 7-0 Padres after 4 innings with a sac fly to left center field that scored Profar. In the 5th inning, Luis Campusano made it 8-0 with a solo home run to left field, his 4th of the year. Ha-Seong Kim made it 9-0 in the 7th with a solo shot of his own. In the bottom of the 9th, Ozzie Albies got the Braves on the board with an RBI single.

Cronenworth said of the success against the Braves "That's just baseball. That's a really good team over there. They've had 100 wins for the last X amount of years, We came in after an off day and reset and played good baseball."

Darvish put together a dominant start to reach 200 wins in his major league career, pitching 7 shutout innings while allowing two hits and a walk to go with 9 strikeouts. Adrian Morejon delivered a scoreless 8th inning and Stephen Kolek pitched the 9th.

Bryce Elder allowed 7 runs on 9 hits in 3 walks over 3 innings for the Braves. Ray Kerr pitched the next 3 1/3 innings and gave up two runs. Jesse Chavez got two outs before Dylan Lee pitched the 8th and position player Luke Williams handled the 9th.

The teams wrap up the series Monday with a doubleheader. Game one pits Dylan Cease of the Padres and Reynaldo Lopez of the Braves against each other. Game two has Randy Vasquez starting for the Padres against Atlanta's Chris Sale.
