World Series Recap!

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in game 5 of the world series last night to clinch the title! Here is a game-by game recap of the series
Game 1: It was Chris Sale vs Clayton Kershaw in a back and forth game 1 at Fenway. The game was going good for the Dodgers, with them holding tie game until Manager Dave Roberts put Alex Wood in for Kershaw to face the left handed Rafael Devers. Alex Cora countered with switch hitter Eduardo Nunez. Nunez blasted a fastball into the monster seats, effectively clinching game 1 for the Red Sox.

Game 2: David Price took the mound for the Sox against Hyun-Jin Ryu of the Dodgers in a crazy game 2. The Dodgers were holding a 2-1 lead until they walked the bases loaded after a few Red Sox were hit. Dave Roberts brought in Ryan Madson to face Steve Pearce. After almost hitting him twice, Madson walked Pearce on 5 pitches, making it 2-2. Then, up came JD Martinez. JD slapped a looper into Right field to bring in 2 runs and give the Red Sox the lead, one they wouldn't lose.
A dejected Madson
Game 3: This game by itself set many records. It was longer than the entire 1939 world series. It also was 2 whole games, 18 innings long. This game was a back and forth battle between Rick Porcello and Walker Buehler. The Dodgers held a 1-0 lead into the 8th inning, when Jackie Bradley Jr belted a homer into Right Field against Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen, tying the game at 1. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the 13th inning, and Nathan Eovaldi gave up a ground ball to Yasiel Puig, likely ending the game, right? Wrong. Ian Kinsler threw the ball away, scoring the tying run. Several scoreless innings later, the bottom of the 18th rolled in, with Eovaldi being in since the 12th inning, throwing filth. Max Muncy came up and belted a homer, ending the game. Eovaldi's performance was still incredible, and no one was upset with him, with many teammates praising him on Instagram, calling him "Nasty Nate"

Game 4: About 15 hours after game 3 concluded, it was time for game 4. Nathan Eovaldi was supposed to start for the Red Sox, but that didn't happen after game 3. Alex Cora went with lefty Eduardo Rodriguez against Massachusetts native Rich Hill for the Dodgers. This game was another back and forth pitchers duel, until the 6th inning. After a double by Justin Turner and an intentional walk to Manny Machado, the bases were loaded with nobody out for LA. Cody Bellinger came up with the infield in. He grounded a ball right to 1st baseman Steve Pearce, who threw it to Christian Vazquez. Vazquez touched home for the force out, and when he threw back to first, the ball got away. Turner scored and Machado got to third base, making it 1-0. Yasiel Puig came up next and belted a 3 run home run, making it 4-0 and ending Rodriguez's night. Then came the 7th inning. Rich Hill was taken out for Ryan Madson, someone who was shaky in the postseason. Then, Chris Sale started screaming. It's unclear what he said, but that fired up the Red Sox. Mitch Moreland pinch hit for the pitcher and belted a 3 run homer on the 1st pitch from Madson, making it 4-3. In the 8th, Steve Pearce hit a game tying homer off Kenley Jansen, making up for the 6th inning. In the 9th Pearce cleared the bases on a double and the Sox won 9-6.

Game 5: It was a win or go home for the Dodgers, and they put Clayton Kershaw on the mound to face David Price of the Red Sox. In the top of the 1st, after giving up a base hit to Andrew Benintendi, Steve Pearce came up and drilled a 2 run homer, making it 2-0. David Freese got 1 for the Dodgers in the 1st, but it was already 2-1 Red Sox. In the top of the 6th inning, with the game still 2-1 and the Red Sox needing a jolt, a struggling Mookie Betts came up. Mookie drilled his 1st homer of the postseason to left field, giving the Red Sox a 3-1 lead. JD Martinez hit a homer in the 7th inning, and Steve Pearce hit another one in the 8th to give the Sox a 5-1 lead. David Price was simply masterful. 7+ innings of 1 run, 3 hit ball, ending doubts of his postseason record. Joe Kelly had a shutdown 8th, and Chris Sale came in in the 9th inning and retired the Dodgers in order, striking out Manny Machado to clinch Boston's 4th world series win in 20 years. Steve Pearce won world series MVP in an epic series. Boston's parade is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 AM
