Lemahieu joins Yanks

The Yankees continue their busy off season, signing free agent 2B DJ Lemahieu to a 2 year, $24 million contract, which most likely takes New York out of the running for Manny Machado. Lemahieu, who is a very good hitter and fielder, is a versatile infielder, who can play 2nd, 1st, and 3rd base for the Yankees. The team figures to use him in a utility role as current SS Didi Gregorius will miss significant time due to surgery, and SS Troy Tulowitzki could be the starter at shortstop, which Lemahieu could get a couple starts at. Lemahieu hit .276 with 15 home runs and 62 RBI in 128 games for the Colorado Rockies last year. Lemahieu hit .348 in 2016, which won him the National League batting title.
