Miscellaneous free agency


The Texas Rangers have signed RHP Shelby Miller to a 1 year, $2-3 million deal. He has a base salary of $2 million and can earn another million in performance incentives. This is tied to number of days on the active roster and innings pitched. Miller struggled in his years as an Arizona Diamondback, and was brilliant as a member of the St.Louis Cardinals before joining Arizona. He has a career 37-53 record with a 3.83 ERA

The Seattle Mariners have signed IF Tim Beckham to a 1 year, $1.75 million deal, with an additional $250,000 in performance incentives. Beckham posted a .661 OPS in 96 games last year with the Baltimore Orioles, who had a league-leading terrible season in 2018. Beckham has a career .252 batting average while playing for the Tampa Bay Rays and Orioles in his career. RHP Cory Gearrin was signed by Seattle as well yesterday. 

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed RHP David Phelps to a 1 year, $2.5 million deal with a club option for 2020. Phelps can earn another $3.25 million in bonuses. Phelps has pitched for the Miami Marlins, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and now the Blue Jays.  Phelps has a career 3.89 ERA with 520 K's and 5 saves over 6 years in the league.
