Giants agree to deal with Parra

The San Francisco Giants have signed OF Gerardo Parra to a minor league deal, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The deal includes an invite to Giants spring training in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 31-year-old is a veteran in an outfield without experience after OF Hunter Pence was signed by the Texas Rangers. The Giants are reportedly still trying to add an outfielder, announced by Jon Morosi on Twitter. The team has been linked to superstar OF Bryce Harper, who has said that he will not consider a short term deal from anyone, and the Giants preferred a short term deal. Parra joins the 5th team of his 10-year career, and has spent the last 3 seasons with the Colorado Rockies. He averaged hitting .283 over those 3 years. Parra, who has won 2 gold gloves, recorded a plus 34 defensive runs saved over more than 5,000 innings played in left field across his career, according to FanGraphs.
