2019 Team Previews- NL East

The NL East is looking stacked this year. Let's check it out

Miami Marlins
I'll get this one out of the way. The Marlins are absolutely terrible. All of their notable names are gone, and it will be bad for at least 3-5 more years. At least they are just a little better than Baltimore. That's encouraging?

Washington Nationals
Even with Bryce Harper gone, this team is still looking good. Harper was the only major piece they lost. Anthony Rendon is now their leader, and he's pretty good. Juan Soto is their exciting young prospect, and they further bolstered their rotation with the signing of Patrick Corbin. They should compete for the division all year long and perhaps get into the playoffs.

Atlanta Braves
They re-signed Nick Markakis and got Brian McCann. They also lost one of their best relievers in Brad Brach. That has been the Braves offseason. I honestly expected them to bolster depth after they got blown out of the ballpark against the Dodgers in the NLCS, but I guess they didn't. Either way, this team will be competing for back to back NL East titles.

New York Mets
They traded for Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano, they traded for Keon Broxton, signed Jed Lowrie, and Jeurys Familia. The team bolstered depth so that if and when their players get hurt, they have serviceable backups. This team could turn some heads this year, mine included.

Philadelphia Phillies
These guys should be champions of the offseason. They got Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto, Jean Segura, Andrew McCutchen, David Robertson, and extended Aaron Nola. This team is looking really darn good, especially with pitchers having to face the trio of Harper, Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins. Segura stabilizes the middle infield, Robertson can close games instead of Hector Neris and Seranthony Dominguez, and 'Cutch should bring added outfield depth. Expect this team to go on a deep playoff run, and maybe win the world series

Division Assessment
This division is stacked. The only team really out of it is the Marlins. All the other teams have a shot at either winning the division or clinching a wild card spot. If you see an NL East game on TV, watch it. If you have a chance to go to a game with at least one NL East team, go. You'll wanna watch this division closely, especially in September when the division races start heating up.
