Braves extend 2B Albies for 7 years

The Atlanta Braves and 2B Ozzie Albies have agreed to a 7 year, $35 million extension, the team announced earlier today. There are options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, which are worth $7 million each and have a $4 million buyout. Albies, coming off his first all star appearance, has started 2019 batting .364 with 16 hits in 11 games. In 226 major league games, Albies has hit .272 with 31 homers and 102 RBI, to go along with 24 steals.

Albies is one of the better defensive 2nd basemen as well. He had plus 8 runs saved in 2018, which put him at 3rd in the National League. He has a plus 2 in runs saved already to start this year. This comes 9 days after Ronald Acuna was extended for 8 years by the Braves.
