Kemp heads to IL

The Cincinnati Reds have placed OF Matt Kemp on the 10 day injured list(IL). Kemp heads to the IL due to breaking a rib when he crashed into the Petco Park wall during Sunday's loss to the San Diego Padres. He was originally diagnosed with a chest contusion. He was replaced in the bottom of the 4th by Scott Schebler.

Kemp is off to a tough start this year, batting .200 with 1 home run and 5 RBI for the Reds. Kemp is making $21.5 million this year, and is in the final year of the 8 year megadeal he signed with the Dodgers in 2011. The Reds called up OF Phillip Ervin from Triple A Louisville to take Kemp's place on the roster.
