Orioles' Davis sets record for hitless streak

Chris Davis's contract is becoming even more of a bust. He now stands alone in the halls of baseball futility. The Orioles 1B flew out in his 3rd at bat today against the Oakland Athletics, setting a new record for consecutive hitless at bats by a non pitcher at 47. Eugenio Velez previously held the record at 46. Davis is 0-33 in 2019, but has a couple RBI due to walks. His most recent hit was on September 14 of 2018, a double off of White Sox pitcher James Shields. Davis also hasn't recorded a hit in 54 plate appearances, and is 3 hitless appearances away from tying that record.
