Cubs stay hot with win over Nationals

   Kris Bryant hit 3 homers, totaling 5 RBI on the day, as the Chicago Cubs piled on the runs in a 14-6 win over the Washington Nationals. Bryant homered in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings, and became the 12th player to homer in 3 straight games. Bryant had 4 hits, extending his on base streak to 26 games, a career best. Albert Almora, Willson Contreras, and Kyle Schwarber also homered.

   Javier Baez got the scoring started early, with an RBI double in the first, scoring Schwarber. Almora hit a 2 run homer in the second to make it 3-0. They didn't score again until the 7th, when Bryant hit a 2 run homer to make it 5-2. In the 8th, Schwarber hit a 2 run homer, Bryant hit a solo homer, Mark Zagunis scored Anthony Rizzo on a infield single, and Baez later scored to make it 10 runs. In the 9th, Bryant hit another 2 run bomb, and Contreras hit a 2 run homer for the Cubs' 14 runs. 

   The Nationals are now 2-13 in series openers this year. Jon Lester takes the mound for the Cubs, while Stephen Strasburg starts for the Nationals today.
