The Boston Red Sox are staying hot. Eduardo Rodriguez threw 7 dominant innings as the bats powered the Boston Red Sox to a 14-1 thrashing of the Seattle Mariners tonight. Perhaps this could be considered payback for the Sox, as they lost 3 of 4 to Seattle to start the season in Seattle. The offense chased Mariner's rookie Erik Swanson from the game after just 4 2/3 innings pitched, as the Red Sox are now over .500 on the season, at 20-19, having won 9 of their last 11 games.

Mookie Betts got the scoring started in the third inning with an RBI single to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Mitch Moreland stepped up to the plate and ripped a 3 run homer over the Boston bullpen to put the Sox ahead 4-0. Rafael Devers added a solo homer in the fourth to make it 5-0. In the 5th, Moreland doubled home Andrew Benintendi, and then Devers singled Moreland home to make it 7-0. Benintendi homered to right field in the 6th to make it 8-0, Xander Bogaerts doubled in Steve Pearce, and Michael Chavis grounded out to score Bogaerts to make it 10-0. Benintendi scored on an error in the 8th, Betts scored on a fielders choice, and Devers drove in Bogaerts and Pearce to cap the scoring.

Seattle's lone run came on a Edwin Encarnacion RBI double in the top of the 8th. Swanson took the loss for Seattle, allowing 7 runs in 4 2/3 innings. Eduardo Rodriguez allowed 5 hits over 7 innings, striking out 5 to get the win. It was the first time Rodriguez lasted 7 innings in a start since September of 2017 against the Cincinnati Reds. Felix Hernandez gets the ball for the Mariners in tomorrow's game, while Rick Porcello starts for Boston. First pitch is at 1:05 from Fenway Park.
