With one swing of the bat, The San Diego Padres were able to win yesterday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers and gave Padres fans the chance to roar. Hunter Renfroe's walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th propelled the Padres to an 8-5 victory over the Dodgers. Renfroe knew off the bat it was gone, so he raised his hands, dropped the bat, pointed at his dugout, and started his trot. Renfroe said after the game''I had to go back and watch what I did, too. I didn't know where the ball went. I didn't even look at it."

The Padres looked as if they were headed for another one run loss to the Dodgers as they took a 5-4 lead late, and there were plenty of Dodgers fans in attendance. However, the Padres offense showed up at the right time. Franmil Reyes got the scoring started early, with a first inning homer. In the second, Francisco Mejia tripled home Greg Garcia, who later doubled home Eric Hosmer in the 3rd. Mejia also hit a sac fly in the 3rd, scoring Wil Myers. This made it 4-0 Padres. Max Muncy hit a 3 run homer for the Dodgers in the 5th to make it a one run game, and in the 8th inning, Chris Taylor hit the go ahead homer for the Dodgers to put them ahead 5-4.

Then came the bottom of the 9th. Kenley Jansen was on to close for the Dodgers, who was trying for his third save in as many games. Eric Hosmer started with a leadoff single for the Padres, and then, surprisingly but not surprisingly, the Padres turned to the bunt. Manuel Margot dropped down a bunt to advance Hosmer, and then he beat it out. Wil Myers followed with another bunt single to load the bases, which took the Dodgers by surprise. Myers' bunt was called for, but Margot bunted on his own. That set the stage for Renfroe, who ended it in epic fashion. Adam Warren picked up the win for the Padres with a perfect 9th inning.
