If you watched the first inning of today's Red Sox game against the Seattle Mariners, you would think the Mariners would be headed for an easy win. Then, the Red Sox offense happened. The Red Sox came back from a 4-0 defecit to take down the Seattle Mariners 9-5. The BoSox had an 8 run surge in the 3rd inning. Red Sox catcher Sandy Leon was frustrated when he fouled off his safety squeeze attempt. Leon then blasted a pitch into the Green Monster stands for a 3 run homer.

Dan Vogelbach got the Seattle scoring started in the first with an RBI double, then Domingo Santana also doubled, scoring Vogelbach and making it 2-0 Seattle. Then, Jay Bruce drilled a 2 run homer to center field to make it 4-0 before Felix Hernandez even took the mound. Seattle's only other run came in the 9th inning, when Omar Narváez. Hernandez only lasted 2 1/3 innings.

Mitch Moreland started the Red Sox comeback in the second inning with a solo homer to right. But, entering the third, the Sox were still down 4-1. Xander Bogaerts got the scoring parade started in the 3rd with an RBI single that scored Mookie Betts. Then, Rafael Devers singled home JD Martinez and Moreland to tie the game at 4. After Michael Chavis drew a walk, Jackie Bradley Jr singled in Bogaerts and Devers to give Boston a 6-4 lead. Leon then homered to left field to make it 9-4.

Rick Porcello gave up 4 runs and 5 hits over 6 2/3 innings for Boston. After losing his first 3 starts, Porcello is unbeaten in his last 5. Seattle will send lefty Marco Gonzales to the mound in tomorrow's series finale, while Hector Velazquez will start for the Red Sox, who have clinched the series against Seattle, and can clinch the season series against the Mariners with a win tomorrow.
